Navy Chief Leadership Megaphone™
Plastic. Loud. Chief-approved.
The Navy Chief Leadership Megaphone™ is a battery-operated plastic megaphone finished in navy blue with NAVY CHIEF LEADERSHIP stenciled on the port side in white block letters. It features two volume settings — loud and louder — a siren function that has never been used for its intended purpose, and a pre-recorded audio clip of a deep, measured sigh that can be triggered by the red button on the handle. The sigh was recorded by a Master Chief with 26 years of service. It is accurate.
The megaphone is standard issue for Chiefs conducting formal mentorship sessions, muster formations where the spaces are large and the JOs are far away, and any situation where a Chief has already explained something twice at a normal speaking volume and has reached the conclusion that the problem is auditory rather than motivational. The stenciling is reflective. The Chiefs mess has reviewed this product and approved it for fleet-wide distribution.
The Army's First Sergeants have been providing this exact leadership style for decades without any equipment whatsoever — just personal volume and institutional conviction. We acknowledge this as a legitimate and proven approach. The Navy Chief community, however, has chosen to formalize the process through proper procurement channels, and we respect the administrative instinct.
“The Army's First Sergeants have been delivering this exact leadership style at full volume for decades with no equipment at all, which is impressive, but also the Navy believes in proper procurement.”

After-Action Reports
The pre-recorded sigh is the most accurate thing that has ever been put on a piece of equipment. My division heard it once and two of them immediately went to fix something they had not been asked about. This is leadership.
My Chief uses this at 0530 muster. He does not need it. His natural volume is sufficient. He uses it because he enjoys it. I am giving it three stars because I respect the commitment but also my ears.
I pressed the sigh button once in a passageway and an E-3 who was not even involved in anything came around the corner and apologized. This is a profoundly well-designed product. The stenciling is sharp.
