The Star Trek Commemorative PT Shirt
The uniform we almost had.
In December 2020, the United States Space Force unveiled its first service dress uniform. The internet compared it, in near-unanimous voice, to the uniforms worn by the crew of the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The Space Force responded that this was coincidental. We make no claims either way. We have simply made a PT shirt that commemorates the moment, in a TNG-era color-block design, with the words 'THE UNIFORM WE ALMOST HAD' printed across the back in regulation-width lettering.
The shirt is constructed from moisture-wicking polyester in a cut that our design team describes as 'command-ready.' The front bears a chest patch in the style of a Starfleet comm badge, rendered in subdued gray-on-gray so that it is technically regulation while being unmistakably thematic. The back text is printed in reflective ink, which means it is visible at night, which means it is visible during PT, which is when PT shirts are required. Everything about this product is technically authorized.
We have sold more of this shirt than any other apparel item in our catalog. We do not have data on how the Space Force feels about this. We assume they are comfortable with it, because they have not contacted us, and Guardians are known for their measured institutional temperament.
“The Army's PT shirt is still gray and says 'ARMY' in large block letters, which communicates exactly what the Army needs to communicate and nothing else.”

After-Action Reports
I wore this to PT and a Marine asked if I was going to a convention. I said yes. He saluted. I did not correct him. Five stars.
My commander saw this shirt on me during a PT formation and laughed for what I estimated to be 45 seconds. I have been voluntold for two additional duties since then. The shirt is great. The timing was bad.
Bought one for every member of my flight as a welcome-to-the-Space-Force gift. Morale improved measurably. I have since been asked where I got them by two separate wing commanders. I gave them the URL.
