Guardian Formal Cape™

For ceremony. Worn once. Posted 400 times.

UNIT PRICE$449.99

When the United States Space Force unveiled its formal dress uniform in 2021, the internet briefly became very interested in the cape. The cape is real. It is part of the USSF mess dress uniform. It is navy blue, full-length, and it fastens with a silver clasp at the throat. It looks, to the uncharitable observer, exactly like what a space branch's formal uniform should look like, which caused some confusion among people who had expected something more conventional. Our version honors this moment. It is a cape. It is for you. You have earned the right to wear something that makes a statement.

The Guardian Formal Cape™ is constructed from a navy wool-blend fabric in a full-length cut with a structured shoulder, a silver-tone hook-and-eye clasp, and a charcoal-gray satin lining embroidered with the USSF motto at the hem. It is sized for standard military posture. The lining text is a detail only the wearer will see, which our product team considered an appropriate metaphor for Space Force operational culture: most of the work is invisible and known only to those doing it.

Anticipated usage: one commissioning or retirement ceremony, one branch ball, and approximately 400 social media posts across a 6-month posting cycle. After that it will hang in a closet where it belongs, which is also where the most significant formal garments in history have lived. The cape knows what it is.

The Army wears ACUs to weddings and calls it business casual — the Space Force wears a cape and calls it exactly what it is.

After-Action Reports

Wore this to my commissioning ceremony. A general asked where I got it. I told him. He wrote down the URL. The cape has opened doors I did not expect. Five stars.

I bought this thinking it was a novelty. It is not a novelty. It is a real cape and it is very well made and now I have a full-length formal cape in my barracks room and I have to think about what that means. Two stars for unforeseen commitment.

★★★★★CMSgt Francesca Lund

I have attended 14 branch balls. This is the first year I wore something that generated more than three comments. It generated forty-seven comments. The cape is correct. The Space Force is correct. Five stars.
